Dr. Vanessa Pytel Cordoba (PhD, MSc, MD)

I have a degree in Medicine and Surgery, awarded by the University of Buenos Aires in 2009, approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sports of Spain in 2012.

Specialist in Neurology, I did my medical residency in Neurology at the Italian Hospital of Buenos Aires, Argentina, between 2010 and 2014.

I completed my Ph.D. in Medical-Surgical Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid, between 2015 and 2019 (Thesis: "PET amyloid in Multiple Sclerosis" qualified with an outstanding Cum-laude).

Between 2014 and 2015 I completed the Master's Degree in Neuroscience at the Complutense University of Madrid.

I am a university expert in statistics applied to health sciences by the National University of Distance Education (UNED, 2016-2017).

I obtained a certification in the Cognitive-Behavioral Pathology and Dementia technique by the Spanish Society of Neurology in 2019.

In 2019 I completed the "Intensive Course in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)" at Harvard Medical School. Accredited with 32.00 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM, 2019. I also participated in the Workshop organized by the "London Neuroscience Academy" and ANT Neuro. Accredited with 10 CPD credits from the Royal Society of Medicine. In 2021 I participated in the Brainbox initiative workshop: fundamentals and applications of tES.

I am currently author or co-author of 30 articles in scientific journals, 2 book chapters, presented more than 50 communications to national and international congresses.

I serve as an external reviewer for the journals BMC Neurology, Acta Neurologica Scandinavica, PeerJ - The Journal of Life and Environmental Sciences, Neurology, Frontiers Human Neuroscience, Journal of Medical Virology, and Frontiers in Neurology. 

I am currently contracted as a researcher at the Foundation for Biomedical Research of the Hospital Clínico San Carlos since 2016.

Since 2016 within my responsibilities I perform a minimum of 10 hours per week of general neurology and dementia consultations, and I have training in the use, application, and interpretation of various neuroimaging, neurophysiological and neurobiological techniques used for the assessment of neurological patients.

I have extensive experience in cognitive assessment of patients with neurological diseases using different neuropsychological instruments, structural and functional neuroimaging analysis, and in the use of direct electrical stimulation and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation using neuronavigation. 

I also have an extensive teaching experience, having taught theoretical courses and practical workshops on non-invasive neuromodulation techniques to health professionals (doctors, physiotherapists, psychologists, speech therapists).
